Diamond Core Drill rigs

Desert Road

Designed in Australia

We wanted to build a rig that can live up to its name, we needed a rig that was built tough and able to withstand the extreme climate conditions faced by real drillers, we needed to build something solid that can withstand the harsh conditions of the Australian outback. We, therefore, decided to design our rig in the town of Cloncurry, in Northern Western Queensland, in one of the hottest towns in Australia, reaching temperatures of up to 50 degrees Celsius.

As a result, we equipped the rigs with larger cooling fans, more efficient intercoolers and most importantly, in order to keep the hydraulic fluids from overheating, we installed a larger hydraulic tank (250L Capacity).

The whole R&D process took 18 months on an actual drilling contract. During this time, our engineers in working with many of the local drillers within the area listened carefully to what the drillers wanted on have on their rigs, made the changes and came up with the SRD series.

SRD SERIES

The SRD series features our diamond core drill rigs. This series offers 2 classes of drill rigs, both available on either skids or tracks.

Designed to be compact yet powerful, these rigs are capable of drilling up to 3,000 meters, whilst maintaining it's compact size, it translates to smaller footprint sized pads

series are perhaps one of the most compact sized drill rigs on today's market. The SRD-5C is rated to are some of the most versatile drill rigs in today’s market. A heavy duty machine that has been designed specifically for drilling deep holes across a wide range of applications such as mineral exploration, directional and geotechnical drilling at incredible depths.

As a deep hole drill rig, the SRD series requires a more robust and rigid frame, using above industry standard 220x158mm RHS carbon steel to prevent any warping while jacked in position. This combined with a heavy-duty fully welded lattice framed mast with cross braces can support up to 60 tons on the SRD - 6C model.
Fitted with double locking systems on the jack legs, mast dump and it’s heavy duty mast stays, ensures that the rig remains completely fixed when it’s drilling preventing any deviations.
The SRD series has been designed to be powerful enough to drill deep holes, yet it’s compact size allows it to be transported in a 40ft container.

Engine:

SRD series uses Cummins B and C series engines, a simple and reliable diesel engine that is efficient and easy to maintain.
With ample supply of spare parts be readily available worldwide.
• SRD-5C: BTA 5.9L turbo diesel engine delivering 132kw.
• SRD-6C: CTA 8.3L turbo diesel engine, delivering 194kw.

Drill Head:

The SRD-5C & 6C  features our award-winning chuck drive drill head. It is one of the largest drill heads available within its class range and is the result of using heavy duty truck gears, to withstand the torque and to ensure the longevity of parts.

To prevent unwanted water from entering the drill head, the drill heads case is designed to minimise the number of seals. Constructed from a single piece cast, seals are only required on the top and bottom.

The self-lubricating system helps keep the gears well oiled and cool during operation, helping to extend the life of the drill heads gears.

For improved drilling efficiency, for rod pulls or setting in the casing, the drill head can be side hydraulically shifted to the side

Mast Design:

The SRD rigs feature a foldable mast, which is ideal for transportation. When fully extended, the mast will reach a length of 9.2m (SRD-5C) and 11.6m (SRD-6C).

The masts are lattice framed with cross braces and have been specially engineered and designed for drilling deep holes.
The max rated weight is 60 tons.
All welds are checked and inspected, following a stress test on the mast.

Feed Cylinder:

SRD-5C/6C
Feed  50kN (11,240 lbf) / 80kN (18,000 lbf)
Hold Back 150kN (33,700 lbf) / 240kN (54,000 lbf)

3.5m Feed Stroke via a single hydraulic cylinder
Allows for more direct and intricate control over the feed pressure and feed speed.

Micro feed function slowly engages the speed of the feed, helping to improve core recovery by allowing for smoother continuity between runs, ideal use for broken grounds.

Track Mounts:

The standard option for both types of rigs.
For durability and mobility, we use tank grade tracks that are 450mm wide and max payload of15tons

The tracks give the drill rig better mobility with the ample of power, allowing it to overcome any terrain, but it also gives the driller the finesse to maneuver the rig into even the most challenging and difficult places.
